Exploring phytoplankton biodiversity | Daniela Marić Pfannkuchen

Phytoplankton is the base of the marine food web, and it is very important, because all the other inhabitants of the sea depend on phytoplankton. Phytoplankton is a very diverse group –there are more than 900 different species in the Adriatic– and researchers are trying to follow their annual cycle and their succession. Daniela Marić Pfannkuchen, Research associate at Ruđer Bošković Institute, speaks about phytoplankton biodiversity while presenting what has been done within the CASCADE project.
