Adriatic coastal wetlands: threats and recovery potential | Laura Airoldi

Coastal wetlands are some of the most valuable but highly-threated marine ecosystems. In the north Adriatic Sea, coastal wetlands have been lost extensively over the past centuries and there have been estimates that we have lost more than 80% of these coastal areas. Laura Airoldi, Professor at the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna, illustrates what has been done in the framework of the project CASCADE to study some of the major threats to these systems while exploring some potential of recovery of these ecosystems.
