What is sustainable development? In one of its most famous and still quoted definitions, sustainable development is the “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”, (“Our Common Future” report, 1987). Adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) offer the most practical and effective pathway to tackle the causes of violent conflict, human rights violations, climate change and environmental degradation and aim to ensure that no one will be left behind.
This is the place to find insights, interviews, success stories and innovative projects on sustainability, highlighting the need to integrate economic growth, social justice, human well-being and environmental protection.
