Promoting tourism to support conservation in Nicaragua

In November 2022, LifeWatch ERIC invited coordinators of national and regional biodiversity information networks linked to GBIF, the Global Biodiversity Information Facility, to its ICT-Core office in Seville, to discuss how they could work together to accelerate the development and use of data technology networks and services to support sustainable ecosystem management. The meeting brought together 30 experts and coordinators from 15 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean and Ibero-America. In this video we hear from Jean-Michel Maes, Director of the Entomological Museum of León in Nicaragua, who explains how tourism can actually be beneficial to conservation efforts.
