The cutting-edge research facilities at the University of Salento for studying biodiversity can be found in the BIO4IU lab, comprising an e-Biodiversity Research Centre, Acquatic Systems for Experiemental Simulations, a Laboratory for Confocal Microscopy Imaging and Morpho-Functional Traits of Phytoplankton, and much more. BIO4IU is a project linking multiple research centres in the south of Italy, yet the facilities are open-access, meaning that they can be used for experimental research by the scientific community all over Italy and Europe.
